You never know one day that kit might be worth a few bob unlike the memories which shall always remain priceless and with a bit of luck it will be continued to be used by the next generation of your family ;) ..
    IT66 ·
And what better way to end a day by making others feel happy and sometimes this is all we do have as i remember past times from my youth and they were times spent together playing nothing more than board games and eye spy with just family and friends and you were lucky if you owned a tv let alone a colour one lol ..
    IT66 ·
I've heard people say that a few times over the years about luck and i've never been sure whether it should be classed as luck or judgement and it was my dad and nana that use to use that saying your a long time dead but i'm not convinced in that as i do believe in reincarnation which of course not every one agrees with but were all entitled to our own opinion are we not ? ..
    IT66 ·
I'm more likely to be treated as a criminal knowing my luck as i've never been the fortunate kind of person during my life time lol ..
    IT66 ·
I do believe paul that you have hit the nail on the head with that comment and as of right this moment i'm tempted to shoot the lot of them in government but unfortunately
i don't have a gun and i'd get locked up for doing it :( ..
    IT66 ·
Oh yes true and what is sadly the case is the governments main interest is in the revenue first and foremost :( hence the reason no real solution has been brought up to stop people from smoking ..
    IT66 ·
Well your Dad deserves lots of respect for that as i know he's earned mine and it's just a pity their isn't more people out there like him showing others how to quit but the fact still remains that people have got to want to quit bad enough for them to succeed lol ..
    IT66 ·
As strange as it may seem i didn't originally want to quit and actually enjoyed it but then one day i suddenly started to realize the family members and friends of the family that had passed on through smoking and i'd noticed that my smoking was getting less and less as time went on and then i found the expense of it all was getting to much as well and on top of that their was nothing to show for it so i'd suddenly taken a disliking to it but i wouldn't outlaw it just like that as people need time to be weened off it and the best way of that is the way the government are doing it at the moment by keep putting the prices up until only the rich can afford it then it should be made illegal to sell tobacco in the shops and if the manufacturers don't have customers then they can't afford to produce cigarettes lol ..
    IT66 ·
Any way you did the right thing never smoking and i wish i never had started in the first place as it's the biggest waste of money that their is and your right the habit is really hard to break and takes lots of will power which is all i used along with cutting them down a bit at a time until i was down to 6 a day and that's when i decided no more and it worked for me so i'm really happy about it and have sworn never to have another no matter what happens in my life although tbh their has been moments of weakness when i've been really tempted but managed to some how soldier on until
the urge has passed lol :) .

    Cheers Ian

    Thanks paul :) ..

My Mum & Dad also smoked and it was a bit of a weird scenario as neither of them seemed to really to be ill other than my mum had osteoarthritis in her hands and legs but my dad was diagnosed with skin cancer in 1998 and i took him to the christi on and off for around 20 months until febuary 2000 when he finally went in for the last time as it had spread to his brain and we lost him on the 18th and a week after he was cremated my Mum started with bad a throat and we made a few trips to the local hospital until they diagnosed throat cancer and we lost her in November 2001 so that should of made me want to quit but it had the opposite affect  and we also lost our granddad 3 months before mum due to lung problems and i don't suppose being 92 year old helped either .

    Cheers Ian

I can't do nothing except agree with you on the relaxed forum paul as it does make communication between members easier regardless of whether it's of a serious matter or light banter which makes it soo much easier to get on with people and yes you would be very hard pressed to find another forum any where near half as good as this one which is a shame but at least we've got this one to be a 100% proud of lol ;) ..

Am i stiil smoke free ? :( oh dear i didn't no i'd been on fire  ..
What can i say paul except it will be 15 weeks at the end of tomorrow since i last had a coffin nail and i feel all the better for not having one ;) .

And you take care as well mate ,

    cheers Ian :)

So i didn't get back to you sooner paul but been a tad busy with home and family of late so i got a little side tracked and i agree that the forum is educational and a good place to make friends even if you don't get to meet them all you still get that feeling your part of a family which you don't seem to get on other forums so this feels like it's home from home and your wit and common sense is always refreshing to say the least as i've been on to many forums where their either not interested in your subject or their being to dam right childish to say the least ..

    Your welcome Paul ,,

I know what you mean about the forum being part of your life as i've been a member over 3 years now and other than helping others and keeping in touch with friends on here i have no reason to be here :d but i've tried the whole leaving scenario and still i couldn't keep away and all because of helpful members like yourself .

Yes you do come across rather enthusiastically in your posts which is always refreshing these days and i'm yet to find a post that you've written that i haven't enjoyed so keep up the good work on here as it is indeed appreciated ;) .

    Cheers Ian

Not a problem, I don't know how much you need to remove (hopefully only a millimetre or so), as this will take a wee while. Best of luck with it. Glad to help.

    Paul
