Having finally got on the road with my laguna it started making rattling noises between 2-3k rpm. Just had a look and the pencil coil was loose on the very left hand cylinder. Tried screwing it back down but the threads have gone in the hole.

Would a helicoil be suitable to fix this or is there any other way?

also could anyone find out the thread size?

M6 x 1.0 for bolt.
You might be able to retap hole and try a longer bolt if there is any unused thread at the bottom of the hole.
Helicoil is fine if needed.

m6x1.0 is correct size & pitch a lot depends on the length of the 6mm bolt on similar situations like the mercedes 220 injectors these injector clamps are held by the same 6mmx1.0 but are long bolts what we have to do to rectify get a sleeving piece made up with a 8mmx1.25 od & Id threaded 6x1.0 Hth Regards mickey bo
