Hello,

Its been a while since I have posted on here, as I am a member of cliosport.net also. I have had a problem since before christmas and its gradually getting worse.

Its a bit of a tricky one to explain but basically when pulling away in first gear I get a high pitched vibrating noise? It sounds like a metal on metal, and its very loud when it happens. I can almost feel it through my clutch pedal when it happens. It also sometimes happens ever so slightly when I change to second? Ive been to a local Renault specialist and they couldn't work out what is it, my car is on coilovers and has a ktec stealth exhaust system, and they checked to make sure that it was anything to do with that but that's all fine. It's just had a major service and they re-checked it but nothing, my next step is going direct to Renault but I know its going to cost me  I just have no idea what is causing it and its driving me nuts!

Any help at all would be appreciated.

*Just to add, my clutch it fairly knew, it got changed about 8months ago.

Without hearing the nose it's diificult to say what the problem may be.
Was the clutch release nearing renewed when the cluch was repaired?
Have the driveshafts been checked where they enter the diff., on the gearbox.
I ain't saying this is your problem but I have heard similar noises on cars just before the differential retainer clip has failed. Not an uncommon problem I'm afraid. Clios which have been lowered seem to suffer more than most for some reason.:)

My driveshafts have been checked, that was the first port of call because its been lowered. My driveshafts are fine.

As for the clutch, I went to a MrClutch near me where they replaced it? Im not sure on the details, other than I have a new clutch because my old one was slipping, and got stuck when changing gear.
I am aware of course that problems that lowering my car can cause, however I have been told that this not is a factor in this noise, because that was my first concern. This noise began before I lowered it anyway? hmm.
