hi all new to forum and need your help,had trouble with megane in past(check injection)had the egr valve cleaned and it was ok for a bit but then hitting 70 mph would show on dash check injection.now,took it for a MOT,they were doing the emissions when suddenly it started revving high and they couldn't turn it off,the garage was full of fumes and had to be evacuated,but when they went back to it they sais it wouldn't start.any ideas what could have caused it to rev hard on its own,could the egr valve be finally shot??

Hate to say it but, it sounds like the turbo sent oil into combustion chamber and messed up your engine. Have you tried doing compression test.

Got to agree with above sounds like turbo failed, you would think they would have had enough knowledge to get it into top gear and stall it, but you never know what the circumstances were.

Does the mot on the mainland involve the diesel smoke test still? They stopped it over here due to so many cars blowing the engines while being held on the governor for so long.
If the tester walked off and waited for the engine to stop itself then unfortunately your engine will have run out of oil and seized itself.
If they didn't have the sense to stall the engine then I would suggest finding a new mot station
