when ever the van is cold im getting an awful squeal its driving me mad. the belt is quite new and i recently changed the water pump. i cant get rid of this noise at all when i apply a little belt dressing it disapears so it is the belt slipping. i thought it might be the alternator or maybe the steering pump (this is a second hand unit and has a slight leak). i know the pulley is slightly damaged would this cause the noise im at a loss

if it only does it when u first start up an 4 couple of mins afta (cold engine) i would say its your belt slipping. mine does it every nw n again on me clio lol

just been doing a little research. I see that the later 1.5dcis use a 5pk ribbed belt for technical reasons. my belt is i believe a 6pk ribbed belt. should it also be a 5pk belt? could this be causing the squeal im experiencing?
