Can anyone tell me is it necessary to have that thin metal guides on the K4j/K4m camshaft sprocket. The inlet camshaft sprocket guide came loose and made some serious damages馃槶

I can tell you the answer
YES
dont put the belt back on without this
This stops the belt riding back, and trapping behind the sprocket and wrecking the engine

Something is wrong if the belt is forcing back and weakening/bending the plate to the sprocket
Are you sure the belt did not fail, and trap, and this caused the plate to come adrift

What the man said! (y)

Not sure but will replace everything new and see what happens
You can do that but it's a recipe for wasting money - those sprockets do not come apart by themself - something caused the disaster.

ANY one of the pulleys/tensioner/idlers/crank pulley not in good condition AND properly aligned AND properly tightened will cause a repeat performance .................

Find the cause BEFORE you start the engine with new spares to prevent tears馃槶

also plates at the back stops cam belt going behind cam sprockets and hitting cylinder head If only one plate on sprocket, it will ALWAYS go at the back
