I've just bought my first Renault - a Megan Scenic, 1998. The heater fan does not work but worse than that I am only getting 22 mpg! My previous car, a Ford Escort diesel, I was getting nearly 50mpg - any suggestions as I don't feel I am "heavy footed". The car has also just stopped a few times which suggests to me there is an underlying fuel issue but I am not sure if this is a common fault or I am just unlucky - any suggestions?

Have you checked the coolant level? if it's low that can stp the heater working.

It might be you have a faulty engine temperature sensor? which means the engine ECU thinks the engine is still cold so its like driving around with the choke on. Thought the problem might be connected to the heater not working? if it is down to a low coolant level.
