Hi, long time no post.

Can anyone help me?

Recently purchased the Laguna II 2.0T 205GT the front alloys are well kerbed and really require either refurbishment or replacement.

Problem is that they appear to be either a 'shadow chrome' or 'nickel' effect and some alloys sourced from a renault specialist whilst being the correct wheels have a different finish. The refurbishers in my region, North East, can't match the finish so i would have to go to the standard 'silver' alloy powder coat finish which was not standard on this model.

Are these available from Renault themselves or is there anyone who knows of a refurbisher who could match the finish in this region?

Hi there.

Speaking as someone who refurbishes alloys (in Scotland, alas). It can be very difficult to match wheels, when its not all 4 being done.

The problem is that with only a few exceptions, no manufacturer supplies a paint code for an alloy.

What I do is take the wheel to a local paint supplier, and we both match up with the various paint chips and the wheel, to see what 'car colour code' is closest. (you will find one, and an aerosol will give a good finish - certainly as good as a spray gun).

I think your local refurbisher is either being lazy (in not doing something similar), or just hoping for more business as he'll be painting 4 wheels as opposed to only 2.

I have posted details on how to refurbish alloys in the forum, and its not really that difficult/time consuming. If you are prepared to do the legwork, you can save a packet of cash.

Hope that helps (I can't recommend anyone in your area, unfortunately).

Paul:)

Thanks for the reply, have managed to fine the correct part number for the alloys, will post the result here one way or the other. Hopefully can get the alloys with the correct finish now.

Fingers crossed.

Well, I sent the correct part number as stamped on the rear of the wheels (a Renault part number btw). Only to be told that Renault have never put Chrome Shadow Alloys on their cars and that the company
((Specialist Breakers Ltd) The Reanult Specialists)
of Accrington cannot get the parts which are readily available through the main Renault dealerships!
Now they are wanting me to return the Alloys for a full refund £211 at my own expense! I have recontacted them asking that they arrange collection or guarantee a refund of my postage costs.
They were rude and abrupt, maybe somewhere to avoid?
