Is the speedo sensor for the trafic the one on the back of the gearbox? (long cylinder type shape)

Reason im asking is my speedo has stopped working and the abs light is on, im guessing these are linked and the speedo sensor has failed. I have checked the instrument cluster is working by holding the tip button while turning the ignition on and everything seems to be working fine.

Ok do you know which side it runs off? or any way to test them.

So what does the vss sensor in the gearbox do?
