Hey all, just got a 2012 Grand Scenic with the Bose pack and while my iPhone 7 will connect for hands free use, when I press the media button, it will not stream bluetooth audio! - Used to work fine in my 2010 version, any ideas?
Followed the manual and it does say this is possible, I also tried an iPod with bluetooth and this would not even find the bluetooth to pair to.
Hi have you cleared the memory of any other phones as this can cause a conflict especially with iphones, I had a similar problem with my iphone but when I deleted another iphone that was sharing it was fine I tried putting a samsung phone on at the same time as mine and it worked ok on both phones. hope this helps
Once paired, go to Bluetooth settings in your PHONE.
There should be TWO boxes. One for phone, t'other for Media. If that isn't ticked, It'll not work.
I had to turn mine OFF, as the Satnav on my phone, kept sending audio to a radio, that wasn't listening.
Hi there, no there isn't. I'm starting to think there may be a fault somewhere. Not sure if it's in the radio itself or if there is a Bluetooth module somewhere.
It's in Bluetooth settings, you can pair phones as media devices as well as phones. Mine works will all the kids and wife's devices.
Kinda wish it didn't...
Firstly have you clicked on an empty slot and then paired your phone as a media device.
Secondly are you using the centre button to scroll between different aux settings?
Sorry if I sound condescending but it may be different on other systems. Mine is the Bose and that's how it works.
To be honest though, if you're determined to use your phone for music, why not plug it into the USB port and play it that way with the added bonus it charges at the same time?
Hi there, empty slot has been clicked, phone is paired and works for calls only.
I press the media button and there is a loud beep and the radio says no media devices connected.
I don't mind using the USB connection but as there is only one on the radio, it is a little messy having cables stick out of there, plus I like to keep an iPod connected via USB permanently and use my phone to stream podcasts which I only have on my phone because they download daily.
I have a bose and radiostat both work very similar .. think as davegayle says it is in settings your issue lies.. may even be worth putting unit back to default and erase any paired devices and start from scratch
I hate to be a pain, but I did that last night and still no joy, I do think there is an issue with the stereo, I am pretty good with things like this but this one has stumped me!
When you go into settings to pair a device you should see two options, one is pair phone and the other is pair media device. I found my phone required both to function as both.
When I go to bluetooth connections on the radio, pressing an empty space just brings up the pin number to type in, when I go to the phone, only one comes up which is My_Radio - it pairs and thats it, however I cant play music, pressing the media button just lets out a loud beep.
Thinking about it, you say you play an iPod, your phone plays through the same input as this. Whilst on this setting, press the back button immediately to the left of the big centre button until you see USB in the display. Then rotate the centre button until you see your phone name there and press the centre button to select it. It may ask for a pin again or it may just play.
That's how mine works on a late 2011 grand scenic Bose
Hi there dude. Nope. Didn't work. Just goes to the iPod connected and won't change. I'm gonna buy a new head unit in a few weeks and just stick to the cables for now. At least the hands free works. Thank you for all your helps
Two last things buddy, firstly try it with the iPod off and secondly post a pic of your head unit so we can see which one you have. Lots of different units are used by Renault, I have the audio handbook which may throw some light on things.
Be careful changing your head unit as you can lose lots of display and remote operating features if it's not absolutely compatible.
That head unit isn't in my handbook so must be newer than mine. Suggest you go to a dealer and ask them to show you or get a handbook.
I'd still say you've either got to unplug the USB as it's taking precedence, or there's a button that takes you back to the root of the display, i.e. It will display song, then back one it will display album, then back again it will show USB. Then you'll be able to rotate the dial to select your phone.
Check Bluetooth is on on the head unit and off on the iPod. If the Bluetooth is on on the iPod it may be conflicting with your phone.
I could be wrong now. If anyone has the more modern head unit they may be able to tell you. I think funky has the newer scenic Bose, he might know the answer to your problem.
First of all, thank you for all of your help. Secondly, I have the book, and I have followed it to the letter, and no joy. The manual states that once the bluetooth audio player is paired, press the media button to access the audio. When I do this, there is a loud beep which is like an error sound. I've tried to sync 2 iPhones, an iPod, an iPad and still nothing, the iPod wouldn't even find the radio which makes me think theres something up with it.
All this has been done with and without a USB cable connected.
I found this problem too, I deleted all contacts and phone entries switched on, entered code when asked too, phone connects, try updating the phone book it only adds 2 entries, try media and it beeps and fails. No mater how many times I re-sync it still fails (android) my ipod plays ok, I do if I press the bluetooth entry have options (phone) to connect just call or media.
Still trying.
I'm glad someone else has the problem because I thought I was going mad, I have never had this problem, even in my old 2010 plate Scenic it worked! - Anyhoo I have just gotten used to using the USB cable and my iPhone now, the hands free works so thats something. In the future I will probably get a new head unit but at the moment, I have other things to buy like mats and wipers! :grin2:
