Hello.

I new both to this forum and Espaces.
Hence why i'm here.

I'm looking at buying a 2004 Diesel Espace with 53,000 on the clock (i'm guessing this is above average). Am I looking at whole heap of trouble or are these cars built to last?

If anyone can advice me, it would be hugely appreciated.

Regards
Zed

Welcome to the forum, Zed. Not too sure on the pitfalls for the espace but we have plenty of bus owners so you should get some advice.
One thing to bear in mind that the cam belt & tensioner should be changed at 72k / 5 yrs and it's normally advisable to do the water pump at the same time. This can cost a reasonable amount so you need to bear that in mind. Also the usual about FSH etc.

Hi Zedster ... Get a warranty and look after it, and do the oil changes at 9K or annually you should be OK, Espaces of all vintages can be very reliable, then again some can be dogs ....

I've seen Espaces with starship milage and they are fine, the electrics and the interiors will give up before a well looked after one ... I've actually seen an EspaceIV 1.9dCi thats used as a taxi, it a 53 plate and its got 260K on it .... so something obviously works .... do a search on the forums ... plenty of info .... just remember NOBODY ever joins forums to shout about how good their car is, just whats wrong with it ... so bear that in mind.

Hope it helps:)
