Hey,
Sometimes my Megane doesnt start (Just clicks when the key is turned) and takes a few times before it kicks in. Other times it starts up first time.

I'm thinking its going to be something to do with the starter motor. And im hoping its something fairly easy/simple to rectify.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

It could be one of a couple of things.

The starter motor electrical connections have a tendency to corrode.I'm not 100% sure where the starter is to on your Megane, but really you need to remove the small spade connector from the solenoid and make sure it's nice and clean and making good contact.

They can also suffer from earthing faults.Check the earth leads and connections between the battery and the body, and the body to the engine.

If all seems well with the above, then it will be the starter motor it's self.

Hope that helps.:)

If it just clicks when you try to start it,then the problem is in the starter circuit somewhere.

If the engine turned over and didn't fire, then you'd be looking at a TDC sensor fault,or possibly coils, etc.:)
