I recently bought a 99 2.2 diesel Espace. After a few days of buying it, I went on a 30 minute journey and when I pulled up at a set of lights the oil light came on as well as the stop light. So I switched off the engine waited a couple of minutes and checked the oil level which was fine. I started her up again and no lights. I travelled approx another 20 minutes and all ok. I have since done some small journeys and all ok. But when I do a longer journey same thing happens, when I pull up so that engine is idling after a longish journey the light comes on. If I then switch off for a couple of minutes all ok for a while then same again. I have also driven it after the oil light has come on and no bad noises or lack of power.

Any one any idea's?

This is a common problem and is nothing to worry about mines does it too !!

It is caused by oil leaking out the top of the switch and it causes a bad electrical connection on the plug a replacement switch and cleaning the contacts on the plug cures it sometimes just cleaning the plug works
