The filter is at the back of the engine bay,you need to remove the plastic box on the side of the head and then you will see a 'funnel' type arrangement which will have two T20 torx headed screws in the top of it.Undo these and the unit hinges down and then you will be able to remove it and the filter is in there.

The air filter is right at the back against the bulkhead, behind the throttle body.

Remove the rubber strap holding the air intake hose in place, then disconnect the expansion box at its back end and move the air hose and expansion box to one side.

You will then be able to see the air filter in its casing, behind the throttle body. Remove the two torx screws at the top, it is held in place by lugs at the bottom.

Removing the filter casing to get the filter out is quite tricky but possible, usually twisting down and towards the passenger side will work.

The pic is Megane not Scenic, but should be similar.
