Airbag light- fault codes provided.

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have an MK3 Clio 2006 and have the airbag light and service light on for most of the time. Occasionally the lights do go OFF but come on again and again. Have checked the connectors under the driver's seat but all seem fine. I read that you can use resistors connected to the connectors to identify which connector might be the problem. Can anyone enlighten me with more details? The codes I see are DTC900761 and DTC900861.

Hi Eagle and Welcome:)
Does your scanner give detail like 'Drivers airbag circuit 1 or 2' ?
Assuming that these are driver airbag faults it could be the airbag itself, the clockspring in the steering wheel or the wiring to the steering wheel.
To test the airbag you unplug it and fit a resistor or Emulator in it's place which mimmicks the airbag. If the fault clears the airbag is suspect. The value of the resistance is vehicle specific.
If it does not then you go the plug at the steering column, open it, fit the Emulator. If the code clears the clockspring is suspect.
Alternativley identify the four wires for the airbag firing circuits 1 & 2, and check for continuity through the clockspring ribbon cable which is the most likely cause of driver airbag discontinuity.
Any chance you can beg borrow or steal Renault speaking scanner? Generic DTC codes might not be pointing you in the right direction.
Do not work on airbags or pretensioners without first disconnecting the battery and waiting ten or fifteen minutes.
These are the results I have through two different scanners. I removed the steering airbag and checked continuity of the ribbon clock spring and all seems ok. I need to know what sort of resistor to put in connector to replace the airbag? I have a clio MK3 2006 model. Should it be 3ohms or greater? Any comments to guide me to the source is welcomed . Thank you.

Wrong forum for asking how to bypass airbag system with Resistors ,
Hi there, please note that I do not want to bypass the airbag but want to know what resistor to fit to mimic the airbag. If the light goes off then I know that the steering wheel airbag circuitry is at fault. Once more I ask all readers out there would a 3ohm resistor be ok to mimic steering airbag circuits 1 & 2?

I don't know the resistance for that car.
If I had a cct 2 fault like that one I would check the continuity of the firing cct wires through the clockspring ribbon cable.
Just disconnect the plug at the airbag and the one to the clockspring.
You may have to provoke it by turning as the connection can make break as the ribbon bends.
Hopefully not and you find the smoking gun straight off.
Clocksprings generally have a locking screw or pin to fix it dead center when you open it.
If you reassemble in any other position you run the risk of breaking the ribbon at full lock to the 'short' side.
Hi Brendan, you were right. I have the ribbon in my clock spring broken as I have intermittent connection using my multimeter. Do someone in this forum know if I can purchase the ribbon say from Ebay?
Thanks

I tried locating a second hand one but could not get hold of one here in Malta. Pretty scarse as a model to find second hand parts. I can buy from ebay but seen videos that after market units tend to not fully work so I am a bit sceptical to buy. I would consider a second hand one from a scrap yard in UK if I can get hold of someone who can help out! Anyone can suggest a scrap yard which might be willing to send me over one clock spring assy? I will be needing contact email to communicate though! Anyone?
