Vehicle: Renault Trafic 1.9 dci 100 2002
Problem: After changing my fuel filter and restarting the van my alternator belt snapped,just before my key got stuck in the ignition barrel!!! I LOVE RENAULTS!! lol

Is there anything i should be aware of when replacing the belt?As this is one of my jobs for tomorrow....

Just make sure you remove all of the old belt,fragments have a habit of going down behind the pulleys and causing havoc,especially the bottom pulley and going into the cambelt.

Also,when you move the spring tensioner back,there is a hole for a small pin to go into which holds the tensioner back whilst you fit the new belt.A small allen key or similar is ideal,it saves you having to hold the tensioner back under spring tension whilst trying to thread the belt in place.

check all the pulleys and bearings are in good condition that the belt runs on. Also make sure none of the old belt has gone into the timing cover as this may make the timing jump.
