my aux belt on my rx4 has broke once already which i thought was due to my oil leak and oil all over the pulleys but my new belt has already jumped over 1 groove and has signs of wear.this happened a few weeks after the new belt was fitted.
so could this mean that one of the pulleys is rough or something and is fraying the belt. there is a chip out of the tensioner one i think but also the alu one(steering pump i think) has one or 2 rough grooves

How many grooves does your belt have - is it a 5PK or 6PK?
It will be the same set up as the 2.0 F4R used in the 2WD Scenic.

The crank shaft pulley has one less groove than the other grooved pulleys. The empty spare groove should be on the engine side of the other pulleys otherwise the auxilliary belt will ride up towards the timing belt on the crank shaft pulley.

You don't want the auxlliary belt or bits of it going under the timing belt cover
