Hi all, I'm new to this site(my first post), was just having a look under the bonnet of my Laguna I 1.6 16v and noticed my fan belt looking a bit sorry for itself (cracks). I'll change the belt in about a week, was just wondering should I change the tensioner also? If so, what torque does it need when fitting new one as I can't find any info on it.

Car has A/C so it's auto tensioner.

Cheers, Martyn.

Hi Martyn - as far as I know the tensioner is self ajusting with its own pretensioner. I have looked through the Haynes manual and can't find torque settings for the bolt on the 1.6 but the setting for the tensioner on the 2.2 diesel is as follows:
Auxiliary drivebelt tensioner pulley bolt is 21 Nm or 15 Lbf/ft

Hope this info., is of assistance:)

Hi you should not have to change or touch a thing as Madnoal has already said its a pretensioned tensioner you should only have to take the old belt off and replace it with the new one and job done i hope this helps all the best Donald.
