Greetings everyone, :d I am working on Chuggy, she is a 1997 Espace 2.1td. Having just recently bought her I am giving her a treat with a new cam belt, however after carefully aligning the timing marks on the cam fuel pump and crankshaft, after rotating the engine the belt moves off the marks, same number of teeth from each mark.:crazy:done this four times now:devil: Any ideas whats wrong. Given up aligning white marks, just going to set crank and two top sprockets.Anyone else have this problem.

Hi.
I think marks on belt are for initial setting up only to make it easier to line things up.
Once you turn engine they go out of sinc due to length of belt.
The more times you turn engine the further out they go.
Timing marks on pulleys and engine should still line up when engine turned.

Thanks, an interesting thought, this is exactly what's been happening. Having now locked crank in position, will reassemble tomorrow. What a job the engines been designed by a Plumber:d
