can anyone please tell me why my battery light is on all the time and also the needle on the rev counter either stays at 0 or flicks wildly between 0 and 2000rpm?
Thanks

Sorry I've only just managed to shoe-horn kids off PC- many thanks for all advice received. No, the alternator belt hasn't squealed (yet).

Hi there John, it might be worthwhile checking the output from the alternator with a meter, with the engine running the reading should be between twelve and thirteen volts and not more than 14 volts, then switch on as many electrical accessories as possible, i.e. heated rear screen, headlights, heater etc. and the voltage reading from the alternator should be the same. Also as already suggested check all earth connections from battery to bodywork, starter motor and alternator. Hope you get your problem sorted,
Regards Leroy
