Right .... A new car (180£)- Scenic mk1 1.9 dci expression 2002 (Engine on this fine and doesn't lose coolant !)
Yes cheap but i tell you its a bargain - pvt sale to clear quick. Surely now with these two cars I should be setup for life !!

almost identical to my one in signature but not quite. My original was the Dynamique)
(Same engine as my old one - but with a perfect engine 100k miles)

Issue on new car. Scenic mk1 1.9 dci expression 2002 :

- The interior blower fan only works on level 4 (not on 1,2,3setting
rotating blower either way.)
any ideas?

Can this be moved to electronicS ? AS clearly this is in the wrong thread ?

it's not gonna be mechanical but an electrical fix ?

I assume reading up on the sequence on this site for a fix is :

- replace: the resistor pack, cabled to a blower motor plug (£12.50)

-resistor pack wiring loom (£12.50 plus a pack of butt connectors)

-2nd hand blower motor (£18.00)
all from eBay

Update:
I am reading ben1400's excellent thread on how to fix my issue. blower not working on 1,2,3.
I.am going to look into this tomorrow if weather permits.
HOWEVER:
The thread is so old the links dont work. Thus I have no idea what the thermal fuse looks like and am.yet to.order one.

is it this it as per pic ?
if anyone can post a link be great ?as I dont know if its 10a or 16a or what ?

I am going to try and add a fools guide to to do this as I am still unsure of where it is .... and how to get to it , from under glove box and what needs removing.

Just looked online. Some say go in under glove box and others say over with top of dashboard removed. it's impossible to be either !!!!!

I still simply have no idea how to get to the resistor pack.

plan:
will remove top dashboard and have a look down and see.
taking bottom.plastic out fraught with danger of damaging it so leave that till last.

Hudson bay start: on blower speed project (scenic mk1 dci)

Only one way these seemingly impossible jobs will get done or even started. Probably easy
for Car mechanics but I am far away from that and have never delved into the Dashboard.

Check 1: via the footwell
Head stuck in footwell with a torch and removed some panels (simply unclip) I can see no way
in from the bottom.

check 2: Via the top
I found a video on youtube which suggested you go in from the top.
Now this has to be the way and if so is one hell of a lot easier..... I hope.
(For some reason the subtitles text with it only work on my android and not on my pc)

However it states you have to remove the bolts that hold the main dashboard.
Can anyone confirm that the ones I have highlighted in pic are the ones i need to remove ?
(I may only need to remove the lh side bolts too.)

Basically i need to get the main dashboard back a bit only.

Next dry day a full investigation and removal to get the part number and pictures of said device. (blower resistor (whatever the hell that is)).
Access is from the top and I have to see what on earth one does to get the main dash pulled back a bit and how to pull out the seemingly fragile and immobile ducting.

All I know is when I know these answers I could get the device out in no more than 15 minutes. I have been researching this for many days......

I have also found a superb site on how to mend these devices and all parts... I will add to this thread when near a pc. This thread hopefully will serve mk1 scenic people

I threw away caution.

I have the device in my hand after 7 minutes of work. I have taken pictures but no serial number on it. if you are lucky enough to have a scenic mk1 then this fix is easy.

part ordered off ebay
pics to follow

To do .
you watch the video in this thread to take be off top dash.
you remove the 2 bolts (as per my pic) on lh side for main dash and pull it back an inch at best. this helps taking single duct out. simply a pull on tube on both ends.

Look down to left and you see the blower resistor held in with a single screw 8mm head I think. with the two connectors only visible.q

remove screw and both elec connectors and pulls out easily.
but
the long wire at the bottom needs unclipping.
this is easy. just shine a torch and you see you go in from bottom. head in footwell , part the fabric concealing it and pull apart connector.
whole unit can now be pulled out from the top.

10mins work and easy.

I can see the thermo fuse and if i could solder i would try. if you can looks simple. I might try...

(I have found a website that sells the fuses will add later) I'll go to he end on this one until fixed !

I ordered a new unit off ebay and will update when here !

will update with pic.
