Just purchased a first car for my daughter(Clio 1.9 diesel 1993).

The problem I need to solve for her is that when the brake is pressed the brake lights come on but also the nearside headlamp lights up.

Any ideas anyone, could it be a relay ?

Hi Amilo - sounds very like a poor connection or dirty earth in the nearside rear lamp - if the current lamp can't find a good return via its normal earth point it will try to run through a different source thus causing another lamp to light up. I suggest you check all the brake lights for adequate earth.:)

Thanks guys,I will attack the rear brake lights.

Would it be probable that the break light at fault would be on the same side as the headlight problem ?
Its nice to have help,You have saved me some time messing with fusebox relays ect.

Can anyone point me to a wireing diagram ?
I understand that it could cause problems with copywrite but a pm with a pointer to a scanned pic would be great.
