Hi, today my wife reported that while she was driving her 2008 1.9dci grand scenic she smelt burning then saw smoke coming from the drivers door. She immediately stopped the car and turned everything off. Now the drivers window won’t work (all others do). Is this likely to be the motor ?

Could be. Or the switch or a wiring short circuit. Was she opening/closing the window at the time. Whatever it is you need to investigate it before she drives anywhere else.

In the meanwhile, disconnect the plug connector to the door wiring at the hinges on the A pillar, if there is one. That will limit any further damage or risk of fire pending investigation. I don't think it's possible to overstate the hazard of burning wiring in a car cabin. One lungful can incapacitate.

There was at sometime in the past reports of the door control for the driving mirror was faulty, causing the same problem, but this was on a far earlier model of Scenic but still worth a look.
