Hi I have a Renault Clio 1.2 Biarritz, Mk 1, phase 3, early 1998
(I believe the engine type is D-type, 1149cc, .. 'open valve/8 valve?')
The car has 62,000 miles on it so i am thinking of getting the cam belt changed. the thing is, i took it to a local mechanic and he said i dont have a cam belt! after the initial shock i asked him if he was 'nuts' (he didn't like that comment..) anyway, he then told me i have a 'chain', not a typical cam belt.
I'm thinking he made a mistake, so i was wondering can anyone confirm that i do indeed have a normal cam belt and not a chain? and if so i'm assuming i should change it since the car is nearly 10 years old and has over 60,000 miles on the clock
im not sure how to proceed, any thoughts anyone please?
