hi i have a 1.2 clio versallies with 13" wheels. can i put standard renault clio 14" rsi wheels on my 1.2 or will this make my speedo lie?? it is a N reg 1995 or 96 thanks

Hi Stuart, it should be fine provided; there is sufficient clearance for the tyres in the wheelarches; and you ensure the tyres have the same (or very close to) rolling circumference as the original tyres.

If in doubt, your tyre supplier will be able to advise.

You would also be advised to switch to alloy wheel studs/bolts as ones for steel wheels will tend to seize through an electrochemical reaction between the 2 metals involved; fit a set of locking nuts/bolts, and also declare the modification to your insurers (you may want to check the impact of this first - before proceeding with the changeover).

Hi Stuart, that's a negligible amount - not enough to make a noticeable impact (remember, new tyres come with around 8mm of tread), so its an amount which won't make a difference.
