hi, i was wondering if anyone could help with this.when i turn the key the starter just clicks. have put a new battery on it and had the starter out and it turns when off the car. also after trying it a few times the dash lights sometimes stay lit after removing the key. car will bump start. sorry its a bit of a long post but wanted to get as much info on as poss. car is year 2000 ,x reg, thanks

Although it works whilst off the car, it doesn't mean it's ok, as when off the car it's not under load.

ah right, might have to try a new starter then. all this seemed to start after i washed it, i was thinking something got wet maybe. does anyone know what the 3 black relays are for in the fusebox next to the battery?

Check to see how much power is being sent to the starter from the battery when cranking, as it should be a minimum of 12.5v
