Good morning,

My wee 2000 Clio Liberte 1149cc has just started to rumble at higher speed on the front driver side. Sounds like wheel bearings to me except that it only occurs when I lift off the accelerator....

The harder I lift off, the noisier the rumble.... The slightest lifting of the foot starts the rumble.

There are no other indications of problems, tyre is fine, wheel secure, CV joint looks ok...

Advice please?

Thanks in advance....

Jack up the offending wheel, and give the wheel a wiggle, top and bottom, then side to side. If there is any noticable play, then change the bearing.
Next, give the wheel a spin and see if it's noisy. Again if it is , change the bearing.
Then lastly, spin the wheel up again (want it on full lock for this one) and look at the tread pattern for any flat spots / lumps etc.
I'd check both sides because what sounds like it's coming from one side, could easilly be transfering the noise through from the other
