Hi my neices 1.4 8 valve clio2 isnt well, she phoned to say it was making funny noises and wouldnt run, towed it back to mine and the alternator drive belt is wrapped around the crank pulley in many peices.
removed the belt and now the car takes several turns before it will fire, then runs like a tank.
Im assuming its stripped some teeth off the cambelt and consequently the timing is significantly out, also there is an oil leak in the area of the crank pulley. Crank oil seal i presume or are there other options?
How likely is it that the engine as sustained damage, and what is that damage likely to be? will it be as severe as a snapped cam belt?

The belt won't be snapped as the engine still runs,I suspect it's just jumped a few teeth. You might be lucky and re-time it and all will be well, valve damage is very possible though.
