[Plastic Paddy]

All,

My 56 1.5DCi Clio's front wipers move really slowly when turned on and sometimes just stop altogether mid movement for a minute or so.

I have read in other forums that this may be the relay or the motor and I should try swapping the relays between the front and rear wipers (the rear wipers are working fine). However, I cannot seem to find the relays - They are not in the dashboard set of fuses (only fuses in there) and in the engine bay there are what appears to be two relays (black cubes approx 10mmx5mmx15mm with 5 contacts) but when I take them out, the wipers still continue to [slowly] work!)

As you can tell, I am not too mechanically minded but if anyone can help............

If the worst comes to the worst and I need to replace the motor is it something a non-spanner-monkey like myself can do or is it time to visit a specialist?

First thing i would do is make sure the wipers aren't grabbing on the screen.
Lift them to their upright position and run wipers. If they're still slow, put some oil down their spindles.
If they still aren't right, then start looking at relays and things
