Hi all i bought a clio mk3 which has a Tomtom satnav fitted. I updated the sd card as directed via Tomtom home 2 and then put the sd card back in, what i got was a series of screens which looked like it was updating the firmware then a red cross at the end and now i just get 3 different screens in a continuous loop, i gave looked at other forums and tried numerous things but no luck.
Any ideas?
I have attached the loop of screens to the thread. Im really stuck!!!

When you backed up your original SD card it should have made a backup of your original card to your computer and also before backup was your maps working, if so you should be able to get your system back up n running.

To do this format your SD card to Fat32, place SD card back into your Carminat it will then write files back onto the card, when finished place the card back into your computer Tomtom home 2 should then startup and from your working backup files should be then be re-written to your card.

I have done this a few times onto a spare sd card just in case

But if you have no back up written to your PC then it won't work so make sure you have.

For further info Google "Tomtom Carminat sd card how to backup and restore"

I have a back up, the problem is the satnav doesn***8217;t start up as normal when theres no card inserted. I feel its as though it needs a factory reset and then just put the card in.

Have you got a spare 2Gb sd card if so do a full Fat32 then insert it into your Carminat, switch on it will write the necessary files to it, once finished insert into computer open Tomtom Home and follow the instructions hopefully you should have a full working card.

The issue is the tom tom does not start up without an sd card in it just goes to the green screen

Did you use the “remove sd card” function in the menu before removing the card from the Tomtom? It’s really important to do so, it’s a security feature to stop someone just smashing your window and stealing your card.l, as it requires the unit to be powered up to do so. If you’ve not done this it will lock out the card, then you’ll need to make a new card as described above.

Ok, just tried mine without card inserted, starts ok but comes up "No Maps Found" obviously then there does appear that your head unit is faulty but note you have recently acquired the car so was it a dealer or private if a dealer and was bought with a warranty then have a word with him, hope you get it sorted.

Hi thanks for the input, i have been on the phone to TomTom CS today for over 2 hours, they cannot do anything on the software side. It seems that the update I downloaded from TomTom home 2 was done correctly but has fried my GPS unit?

Question is now do i replace the whole lot (buying a full second hand set off ebay) and fit it myself or at least try ...... how hard would it be?
Or take it to Renault and let them replace?
Thoughts?

Cant help with that but I think your best bet is a unit from a scrap car it would be the cheapest way, far cheaper than going to a Renault dealer!
