So...
End of Feb I had the problem with the wipers only working on fast. Stripped down and found the motor had been submerged due to blocked up drain holes (lots of good info on the forums for this). Bought a new motor off ebay and replaced then all was working fine until last week when the wipers kept stopping after a minute then do not respond at all until next time we turn the car over. Stripped it down and cleared up the drain again. Tried the motor without the arms and it worked fine for about an hour. Put the arms back on and they stopped. Took arms off for another look and back on again and its worked fine all week until this morning when it stopped working again. What could be wrong? Could it be the cheap aftermarket motor I bought from ebay? Or maybe something with the linkage or even the wiper arms. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Stephanie, welcome to the forums

As the motor was submerged then maybe the linkages were all subject to water ingress as well and require a good spraying of WD40 on the joints to start with the expel any water and add a bit of lubrication to if that is the problem, then if it is, give the joints of the linkage a good greasing

First off useful vid of the problem..

Notice in the vid the multi plug that supplies power to the motor..unplug it and give all connections in the plug a good liberal spraying of contact cleaner I suspect dirty connections are and will be some of the problem..if you are taking the motor off again check inside the motor as well for contaminated electrical connections..:smile2:

Also dont discount the wiper switch..crap design and very problematic..

Been on holiday so just got round to having a look today. We stripped down the linkage and cleaned up and greased it all. Wiper motor was working slowly and then stopped working. Stripped the motor to find some water had got in didn***8217;t look too bad apart from one of the spring looking things was not looking too healthy. Cleaned up best we could and put back together. Motor still not working at all. Tested the motor using a YouTube video that showed connecting the motor directly to the battery with an earth. Didn***8217;t work. Tested the connector for 12v with a multimeter and it all good which means the fuses, switch and wiring are fine. So I***8217;m conclusion I think we need a new motor. Question is should I buy a used valeo or a new eBay aftermarket (which I bought last time and it only lasted 6 months). Maybe I should get a slightly more expensive eBay one. Can anyone recommend a seller?
