Hi Judyp, could be the TDC sensor .... do a search on that see if anything ties up .... I'd also go back to the garage you used and tell them the problem has returned.

hope it helps:)

Hi thanks for your thoughts. Problem is that can't go back to garage, the car is actually my son's who is at university in Birmingham! I am trying to find a garage in that area that specialises in renaults otherwise he is going to have to go to the main Renault Dealer and we all know what that will cost! I have told him to call the AA and see if he is lucky enough to get someone who knows what they are doing - last time we called them the guy knew absolutely nothing, he didn't even do a diagnostic test. To make matters worse he had the car broken into at the weekend whilst visiting a friend in Nottingham and had his bag with the whole year's notes stolen!! What a time for the car to now breakdown!

Not that I really know what I'm talking about, but I used to have a Rover  that at times would have no power under acceleration, this would happen ocassionally and then be fine for a few days:confused: . Bit dogy when I risked it to pull out onto a busy road with no real power:crazy: .

Anyhow, turned out the clutch needed replacing. Just a thought and as I said, I'm not really mechanically minded.

The problem started again late Sunday night he didn't use the car in the day yesterday started it up early evening drove round the car park a few times and it was fine! This is what happens, I told him he now has to call the AA as soon as the problem occurs. Will let you all know the outcome but thanks guys for your thoughts.
