hi all

i want to inspect the rear brakes on my clio as i am hearing a grinding noise from th rear when depressing the foot brake.

what sixe is the nut on the rear drum and would i be able to remove it manuslly or would i need a pneumatic socket set?

on the 2001 model i think it is 30mm but i cant quite remember. i took one off at the weekend. mine came of very easily with a 2foot long bar. there was no recessed or hammered in locking thing (i forget the proper name) on mine so it is easy to undo. remember to re-fit with some locktite!

edit>remembered the size, almost certain it is 30mm on the 2001 model

If its grinding sounds like it'll need new drums which should alway be replaced in pairs - good chance the cylinders could have been damaged as well.:(
