Hi all
I have just stumbled on this site looking for answers, some good stuff on here. I have just bought a '97 2L RXE Megan and have had some cooling problems. Firstly i'm not sure where the bleed valves are, i can't see any actually on the radiator. (This might sound dumb but are they actually valves like a tyre valve or just caps as in my renault van?) Also is there an electrical overtemp cutout on Megans. I got it really hot the other day and it wouldn't turn over when i tried to restart?
And just one more ting, anyone know hoe to get the smell of damp dog out of a Megan
Thanks for any help you can give :)

Hi danno - the radiator bleed valves look just like small caps - there should also be bleeders on at least one of the heater hoses. When the engine was hot did the enigine turn over or not. Also does your car have air-conditioning. Check out the battery cables and earths for cleanliness and make sure they are tightened firmly.:)

Hi Madnoel10
Thanks for that, when the engine was hot it would not turn over, it was similar to a flat battery, i do have air con and i'll check the cables tonight. The cooling system is more complex than my previous cars that i have worked on hence my hessitense in which valves to depress. I have ordered a manual so will have a look through that.

Tinker2, fabreeze is on the hit list, so far its had 2 cans of oust and a good hoover, i'll be shapmpooing the seats tonight and wahing down the trim. Pongo's all round at the moment

Cheers for the help guy's

The smell you have in the car could be coming from the aircon system - you'll need to change the pollen filter and get the system disinfected - most air-con specialists can deodorise for you but you can buy a can from the likes of Halfords for about £10 and spray it into the system - it works best when the pollen filter is removed. Regarding your starting problem also check the cables going to the starter.:)
