When a turbo is dismantled or refurbished it needs to be aerodynamically balanced. This takes psecialist equipment.

It may be better to try to get your own refurbished or buy a recon., unit which comes with a warranty.

It would be a shame to ruin all the hard work you have already done.

thats what i thought. the cartridges claim to b e balanced but my concern is that id end up with cheap chinese stuff. theres a guy on ebay who dose turbos. essexs turbos i think. think its £220 for a recon unit. that sound to good to be true

Aside from reconditioned on ebay.
Is the turbo a borg warner unit?
Mine has 2 part no's on it.The renault one and the borg warner one.Maybe they,bw thatis , do recon units/remanufactured of their own?

Mine has a metal tag riveted on to it,underneath at the back..as usual :)
The tag has both no's on it.
I had to use a torch and a small magnifying mirror on a stick to read it

We have fitted a few of the 1.9 dci turbo cores already assembled & did'nt have any problems with them. cost of buying was roughly £180 each i personally found no fault with them

As long as the unit comes apart OK then changing the cartridge is absolutely fine,it's the only part that is reconditioned any way.

Quality of repairs/reconditioning can vary wildly though,on eBay always check a sellers feedback and even try and contact members who have bought a cartridge from the seller to see if it has lasted well.As long as you are careful there should be no reason to have any problems.:)
