Disassembled the ABS motor today without removing anything but the front broke off flap under the ABS unit.

The cause of DF010 and no working ABS or ESP was the fact that these units are veeeery poorly sealed wich doesn't go n along well with the poor (but probably the only possible) choice of location on the Espace.

On the photos you can see how I did 3threaded holes to match a bracket plate I found which is now holding the cuts together wich I made to make way in from below.

Only 2 screws on the bracket and the 2 holding the motor had to be removed.

Motor off and tested it was obvious that moisture inside causing the oscillating ring on needle bearings to rust so severely so the pile of rust have blocked the motor shaft from turning around.

I cleaned off the rust with an rotating steel brush. Flushed the bearings and cavities with brake cleaner before lubing the bearings with oil, and coating the oscillating ring (that pushes on the plungers when ABS/ESP is activated) And the rubber seal and edge of motor cover with plenty of sticky marine grease to keep moisture out and to keep the aluminium block free from corrosion due to galvanic process between the aluminium and the steel cover and bolts (The same design flaw as on Citroen C5 rear alu brake calipers.. Easily solved with marine grease coating to isolate alu from steel)

Cleaned off the contact pins and scraped, brushed off the corrosion on the aluminium block before assembling it all again..

I removed most of the chunk's of rust from the motor cover and coated it in penetrating rust preventing spray coating.

Photos on disassembled motor.

The job took about 3 hours including some research and thinking

I think I have this problem on my 07 Espace 2.0dCi. Coincidentally or not, I recently replaced the bracket that supports the ABS pump/valve block because it was rusted right through, totally shot. I am going to try the above method so I'll report back with results. Thanks to Hemsedal for posting with pics, potentially very useful

Today I got the motor off the pump and sure enough it was full of rusty dust which was jamming up the works I think. I did a quick clean up job on the aluminium valve body and Dremel wire brushed the inside bit where the spindle is. Then hoovered the whole lot and greased it up.

I would have tried a bit harder but I'm selling the car soon and just want it to pass MoT...

FWIW I didn't cut the bracket (just fitted a new one which cost £110!) but I removed the bracket and held the abs assembly up with a cable tie while I worked on it. To make access easier I folded back the wheelarch liner and pulled the front bumper out from the LH mounts (you need to take undertray bits off).

Just out of curiosity to see if motor worked I had it on the bench with 12v and ran it for a bit while lubricating it. It's quite rough feeling and the motor body is rusted to hell but it's still working.

If I was keeping the car I'd have replaced the motor I think. Good luck to anyone trying it for themselves and thanks to OP for all the pics and advice

Always nice to see when own experience can help others.
I want to point out that this solutions obviously is not optimal when it comes to safety on the roads. But for me and many others I guess it's about a choises between keeping the car running for a while longer, or replaced it with something even less safe in some way, and possibly even without any ESP system at all.
Let's hope this Covid crap will vanish soon so the economy gets back to normal so everyone can afford to buy something safer or to get the whole ABS/ESP unit replaced!

And finally SHAME on Renault for not being more clever then this when choosing where to place this unit in the engine bay!!!!!!!!!!!!
