Just done my first long journey in my Scenic 111 1.9 dci since buying it last year, a distance of 430 miles fully loaded with holiday gear, 1 dog, 2 persons mostly motorway and the notorious A9.

Averaged 64 mph, 3 stops, when arrived computer readout was 45.6 mpg would you say this was reasonable, good or poor, all comments appreciated:driving::redcard::sunny:

Thanks for the input Chris and Lags, good to know it not below par so hope to get better mpg when going back as the car will be much lighter.:driving::)

A good service, diesel fuel system cleaner and a clean out of the EGR could possibly improve things :) (slightly)

Thanks lags will take note, car had done 11000 when bought, serviced last Oct at this mileage and only covered about 1000 since so it might be worth having a look at the egr valve and adding a fuel cleaner:)

See how it goes when I come back home next month

The egr valve aids emissions not economy,The ONLY way it could possibly affect performance is if its stuck open allowing boost pressure to escape back into the exhaust and you,d notice if it was for sure.If it aint broke dont mend it.Your economy is fine.People are obsessed with cleaning egr vlaves for some reason. My dads last lag 1.9 dci racked up 230,000 miles and is still running now without any egr attention and it still gave good economy.

Thanks jimmer your comments also taken onboard, as this is my first diesel after years of petrol only cars, so is still novel to me but I do like the pulling power of these 1.9's dci and also the relaxed engine note especially on motorways.:)
