I intend removing the engine on my Espace 1900 diesel as it has an annoying oil leak from the rear main oil seal. I believe I could remove the gearbox instead but I want to change all the gaskets and oil seals while I'm at it. My wirry is that I read somewhere that somebody had replaced their rear main oil seal 3 times and it still leaked. Is this a common problem?

If it is a normal crankshaft seal, then, if the internal part, where the spring is located, this needs filling with grease. Dont install dry
For how much a main agent would charge for a genuine, as opposed to a generic.
Genuine, I would recommend

When fitting a ckp oil seal you have ensure the inner lip of the seal has not turned outwards a very common problem I use a set of feller gauges after installing to ensure the inner lip has not turned outwards (common fault)
