Hi,
Ive got an espace 2.2 dci mk3 51 plate, thats got a problem with the brakes.

The brake pedal goes hard when you brake quickly, engine running of course.

Sometimes its ok. When you pump the brakes the pedal also goes rock hard.

Somebody said that brake fluid needs changing as its probably got moisture in it. I dont think its ever been changed from new.

Somebody said it coudl be the servo as it doesnt always fall at tickover when the engine running. I say always as it works sometimes then other times when craking hard it doesnt. It dangerous to say the least.

Ive checked the vacuum pump and its sucking with no leaks or damage to pipework.

Help, ive currently got the engine out so i thought might as well do the brake servo change, not as easy at it looks - how the heck do you get it out ???

Engines out cos the coolant has never been changed from day 1 me guesses & the gaasket rotted through from 1 cylinder to the other.

Definately sounds like a servo/vaccum pump/pipework fault somewhere. It could be that the pump is getting weak, there could also be a slight leak on a pipe joint or inside the servo it's self.
