This plug is flapping round above my battery and I can't see where it goes. Any clues - Is it important :)?

I found it - Seems to be on the back of the brake fluid.

Rather worrying that the on board computer didn't seem to care it wasn't plugged in!

because low fluid drops float completes circuit = light on - unplugged same as float is up = fluid o.k

Thanks for the explanation - It isn't a fail-safe safety feature then !

Renault seem to invert the perceived logic of many things - I also have a non-charging alternator (verified with a multimeter) yet the computer makes no mention on the dashboard or even on the OBD. The battery silently drains to 11 volts with no mention, yet the dash is happy to tell me my service is overdue :)
