The radio in my espace X reg took a swim when a bucket of water went over in the car. Any suggestions where I might get a replacement (Renault quote over £800 + VAT which is disgusting considering in a couple of years they'll be obsolete and they'll put them in a skip!)

It is a Pioneer SCU 2056ZRN 02 - the unit under the driver's seat. I believe the same unit was used in some Lagunas as well?

Thank you
Peter

Hi Peter Espace X

£800 does sound a bit steep,i bet they do not sell many.

Try asking around at places like Halfords to get some details of makes and model numbers that fit the Espace (If it was a Clio or Scenic i could tell you but i'm not up on Espace radio's.)

Cheapest source for second hand would be local breakers or fleabay.

You could try giving these chaps a ring :-

eBay UK Shop - Renault Specialists: Rear Lamps, Currently Breaking Cars, Instrument Clusters

Hope this helps.

:) :)

Good suggestion Truck - if it were mine I would take it out take off what covers I could and blast it with a hairdryer for a while and let it sit in a nice dry place for a day or so. A few years back I dropped my mobile phone into the sea whilst angling - dropped into 6 feet of water - a local kid dive down and retrieved it - took it home gave it the hairdryer treatment and guess what it's still working. I gave the kid a fiver for his trouble:)

Spot on Noel ....

A good cleaning method is (electronics industry proven) .... if you have nothing to loose (I stress no guarantees here) ... take the casing off and re-submerge the water damaged equipment in a solution of white spirit and distilled water in a 80:20 mix of water to spirit ... let it sit for 30-60 seconds and then drain and allow to dry.... 95% sucess rate .... works for mobile phones as well ... alternative is 15 seconds in a freon bath ... but thats really an industrial solution ...

Hope it helps :)
