Hello there

I have a 1992 2.1 manual td espace and it has a very loud clacking noise when in reverse I though that this was down to a driveshaft so I have replaced both sides and the noise is still there so I now suspect the gearbox or diff can anyone help shed and light on this problem, as I dont no and really dont want to start replacing the gearbox if it is somthing else.

get the car up on stands and turn wgheels in reverse.

come accross a similar sounding problem it was pads moving in callipers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

caused by discs

Ahh I hadnt thought of that I will have a look today and report back all suggestions about what the cause could be are welcome.

I have had a look and I dont think that it is down to the pads ????

I think that it may be the gearbox or diff but has anyone experianced this sort of thing.
