Hi everyone just had a quote from the AA (I am a member) and with my discount single trip is £69 or annual is £109. I think this is expensive, does anybody have any cheaper alternatives that I can try?

Hi there i used to be a recovery driver till a year ago and i would advise first of all is to read the small print and check it meets your needs

Personally i am with "1st Call" they meet my need and they do european cover check out some of the links below

1st Call First Call GB Ltd - The Motor Breakdown Specialists

Europ Assistance Europ Assistance in UK and Ireland

Green Flag Green Flag: Breakdown cover insurance

The RAC Car Insurance, Breakdown Cover, Status Check, Personal Injury Claim, Car Loan

All of the above i know do european cover.

But i must stress once again "Read The Small Print" i have seen so many people stuck over the years because they didnt read it

Hope this helps and good luck

Hi there, I have the full package with the RAC and even with my employee discount (from when I worked with Ford), its still £190 per year - but then, when you take into account the costs/hassle involved with a breakdown in a foreign land (holiday disrupted/language barrier), its not so bad.

View it as an investment rather than an overhead - its like car insurance - something we all wish we could do without - but when the circumstances dictate that we need it - we're glad we have it.

Its the old "What if?" scenario.

That's a great deal indeed, and I was actually about to buy it (my own breakdown cover renews at the end of the month), then I read that it covers cars up to 20years old (which admittedly is fair enough), however - since I have one at 27 years and the other at 36 years and they are (statistically) most likely to give me problems - then unfortunately its not for me:( .

It looks a genuine deal.

Thanks everyone. All the companies mentioned offer much the same type of cover. They were though half the price of the Very nice man I used before. So now I'm covered for twelve months anywhere in Europe, superb!!
