Service position, wipers are virtually touching the Sides of the windscreen as in straight up..
The multi plugs are the plugs that go on the motors, but wiper arm and the piece of plastic covering the wiper arms need to be taken off
Can I pick your brain on this too.
My 2011 grand scenic has started to have wiper problems. The passenger side sometimes gets stuck in the upright position. When I stop the car and then restart it after a while, it will go back to the normal position and can work away perfect for a week again. At the same time, the larger driver's side wiper will only work at 1 speed when the passenger side wiper is stuck upright.

Any ideas? Is it a case of doing the reset as you detailed above?

Have you tried the initialisation procedure?

Hi , you need 2 change one of your motor as when one of them is gone it affect the other one and cause the problem of synchronisation .

Have you tried following Stuart's instructions?

To initialise wiper motor, with ignition on, turn wiper stalk from 0 to 1 then 1 to 0, turn ignition off,,,
Now disconnect multi plug .....
Dont put the wiper arms on, as your initial settings will be different.
Reconnect your multiplug .

Now turn ignition on, and pull the stalk down, this will put the wiper motor in service position ( where you put it to change the blades) , in this position, now put your wiper arm on,.
Once done,, put switch into off position, wipers will return to normal position...
See if that sorts it...
Excuse me for being thick but everyone goes on about the " multi plug', where abouts is this?

Hi All
Sorry to raise an old post but I had the same issue (NS wiper sitting vertical and OF wiping slow) and being an Electro-mechanical engineer I stripped down the wiper motors. I was unable to fix them so I first replaced the NS and it made no difference, then I replaced the OS and it fixed the issue. The reason i'm posting is after stripping down the motors and inspecting them the OS is slightly different, the components on the PCB indicate to me the OS is the master and the NS is the slave. Also with the OS motor faulty the wiper would refuse to go into the service position. Hope this helps someone. Alan

The multi plug = the plug that goes on the wiper motor

Tried the intitialising procedure to no avail. Is there any way of finding out what motor it is that’s faulty? Just checked online and it’d be about £150 for a second hand motor. Would hate to replace the wrong one. The passenger side motor isn’t making any movement at all and the driver side is moving ever so slightly in a jolting action.

Hi. I had a problem with the wipers on my mk3 Grand Scenic. Diagnostic from Renault showed internal fault with o/s wiper motor. As there was a 3 month back order for the motor, I managed to get a second hand set.

After replacing the o/s motor with the second hand one, there was no action from either motor.

I then replaced the n/s motor, so now had both second hand motors fitted.

Both motors are working but at slightly different speeds, hence the wipers clash together.

Is there a way of resetting the motors? Or any advice. Now driving with driver side wiper only and passenger side removed.

Since reading this thread I have tried to initialize the motors to no avail. Have tried every combination of original and second hand motors.
