Can't get the headrest to go back down. The catch moves forward but the bar remains fixed. I am quietly screaming in frustration and wonder whether I should take a hammer to it.

Had the exact problem with my Vel Satis. It's a matter of tugging and pulling and pushing and yelling as much as you possibly again until it pops out (easier to take it out altogether than to try and push it down). Once it's out, clamly slide it back in with the button pressed. Good luck!
