Hello All

I hope that someone might be able to help me.

I have a '96 Espace 2.1 Turbo Diesel, which wont start!!

I turn the key and i get nothing, no lights on the dashboard, nothing.
not even the central locking switch works.

I have tried jump starting, but i still didnt get anything at all ???????

i have checked the battery terminals and they are clean and all connected ok. I cannot see and cables that should be connected, and it started and drove fine yesterday?????

There was a smell like burning paper in the middle of the car, but i couldn't find the source. I suspect that this is the reason it isn't getting any power.

Is there anything around the centre of the car, inside that could have melted through its shielding, to cause a short in the electrics???

Confused and hoping that someone here might be able to shed some light on this problem. At least if i have some things to check i can rule them out before i take the car to the garage.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Worth checking the earth connection on the engine end.
If you have some jump leads connnect the earth from the terminal to the engine lifting bracket or something similar.
