I've rented a Mégane Break hybrid in France this week and it's very nice, but the middle rear seat belt seems to have been assembled wrong. The sliding bit with the tongue you insert into the lock is between the lower anchor point and a black plastic stud, which gives it about 30cm of adjustment, about enough for a waffer thin mint. It looks like it ought to be above the stud, where it could slide with enough adjustment to let someone use it. It this how it's meant to be, and if so, HTF do you use it?

Some nice soul has forced the latch past the stud...... line it up carefully with the central slot and give it a good yank.

That makes sense, thanks very much…but as it's a rental car I'm not sure I want to risk damaging it.
