Hi, new poster here, but a common problem and maybe sone new developments.

I have a 2000 megane sport alize 2.0. Over the last few years it has had the Pressure regular replaced twice. Few months ago it exhibited the usual problems and I took it to a different dealer (my local franchise has closed). They diagnosed the usual problem and ordered a pressure regulator. The car was not drivable so I left it with them. Every week I enquired and they said it was on back order. This week I got annoyed and asked for more answers. I had a phone call today from the dealers, they told me that Renault now say the part is no longer available, but a replacement part can be obtained. Problem is it is over £500! Whereas the old part was about £150.

Anyone else aware of this? Seems like Renault are really taking the ****. They design a part which is inherently faulty, so replace it with a part for about four times the cost.

I will be in touch with customer service tomorrow but don't hold out much hope.

As the engine is no longer produced obviously parts are likely to be scarce. Under EU legislation a car manufacturer is obliged to make spares available for up to 10 years after its last production. Sadly these rules have no influence on price. Even at that the manufacturer is not obliged to supply directly - they can contract that out to another supplier who is free to charge whatever they like.

Good luck with your complaint to Renault.:)

Renault may not have them but you can still get them (a breakers in Accrington). Very easy to fit but make sure you observe the cleanliness guidelines.

I'm guessing the £500 is to make you go away.

My IDE Megane 2 litre has been with the dealers for 2 months now. I was told by renault Uk that I was on a list and was 28th but would be given a priority. After this time I find that I am 6th but told today that the system has changed. France is now involved in that they have asked the garage for the computer fault print out from the dealer. Do I sense another delay or will I see some action. Who knows. Service shocking communication shocking. If I dont get satisfaction in the next 2 weeks my dealer will not be selling any more cars as I will just camp out on site and advise people of their poor service.
