Hi.
I have a laguna 2.2gt. When your cruising along the car coughs and makes a funny noise from which sounds like the front nearside. It sounds like an air intake kind of noise and it judders.
As soon as you put the peddle down and the turbo kicks in its fine. There's no hesitation from the turbo and the engine runs really smooth. It almost feels like the turbo doesn't know what it should do when it happens.

Theres no smoke when it happens. It starts when the revs are just below turbo kick in.

Could it be some kind of valve that controls the turbo sticking?

May be a dirty or faulty EGR valve - if faulty it tends to cause a hesitation in the 1,500 to 2,500 rpm range.
No guarantee that's your problem but sticking EGR valves are fairly common on the Dci engines.:)
