Hi, i`ve just had my garage fit a new drive belt whilst doing the mot but now when engine is cold have a terrible intermittent screeching noise from belt, took back to garage and they retentioned belt but still have the same problem when engine cold, the ignition light does not come on when screeching, does belt need more tension, thanks Larny

Yes you need to tension belt a wee bit more. There is more load on alternator when you start engine in the morning. Glowplugs and thermoplungers stay on for a wee while causing auxiliary drive belt to screech like a stuck pig. Some Kangoos have an automatic spring loaded tensioner for aux drive belts and some need to be manually tensioned and tension checked using a special instrument.

Don't keep on driving without sorting this out. You'll quickly wear out your belt and worst case scenario is timing belt failure.
